The River

Be Careful Richard Parker! You don't want to fall looking at the view of a branch/canal of the Saigon River.  The river is 225 km long and polluted although recent attempts have been made to clean it up and reintroduce native fish species. The branches and canals are less polluted and daily, fishing boats with nets can be seen along this branch, well into and throughout the night. The branch Richard Parker is looking at is affected by tides, even though it is quite far from the mouth of the river.
The port itself is 83 km from the sea and is the most important port in SE Asia. it is navigable to ships with drafts up to 9 m.

Here Richard Parker is lounging on the couch in the apt. It is a very modern building with pool, fitness facilities and pool. Interestingly, all the counters, sinks etc. are about 10 - 12 cm lower in height than North American ones, so cooking and doing dishes and brushing teeth means a lot of bending for me.
The apt. has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths (one of which is for the maid). There is no oven or dishwasher, but above the sink is a built in drying wrack. The washing machine is located in a kind of outdoor room, which has one wall of bars open to the outside. There is a storage area/ironing room and washroom. No dryer - clothes are hung in this outdoor room. The kitchen is modern (although not well supplied and low counters) with an island and lots of cupboards. Many typical English TV stations (CNN, HBO, ESPN, Fox) although the feeds come from Australia. Internet is slow and some sites, like Facebook are banned.
